Sewerby Hall & Gardens

Grade 1 listed Sewerby Hall is set in 50 acres of early 19th Century parkland and offers something for everyone, from the magnificent gardens and zoo to the deep rooted heritage of the house which dates back to 1714. Gardens are free to visit during the winter. Cafe offers refreshments throughout the year. We love the huge monkey puzzle trees in the gardens!

Burton Agnes

Burton Agnes is a beautiful historic house that dates back to 1173. The walled garden has many thousands of plant species, herbaceous borders, a jungle garden, a yew maze and giant games such as chess, while the woodland features a peaceful arboretum walk and has a fabulous adventure playground. Cafe & baby changing facilities available.

Sledmere House is Perfect for a relaxing day out with a beautiful walled garden and plenty of places for a picnic lunch. Adventure play area to keep the kids busy and you can the animals in the rare breed farm park. Alternatively, to you might like to take in the fine art and architecture in the beautiful country home.

RSPB Bempton Cliffs

Bempton Cliffs are a short drive north from Sewerby and home to one of the UK’s top wildlife spectacles. Around half a million seabirds gather here between March and October to raise a family on towering chalk cliffs which overlook the North Sea. Also the home to seals and porpoises. Visitor centre, cafe, shop, walking trails.

Flamborough Head

Visit the two historic lighthouses on the cliffs of Flamborough Head. The oldest, built in 1674 is the earliest known lighthouse still in existence in the UK. Take a trip up the newer lighthouse built in 1806. Also the home to much wildlife including nesting birds in the summer months. Enjoy the 5m scenic walk from Sewerby or a 4km circular once there. Plenty of pubs and cafes in Flamborough itself for refreshments.

Bridlington Animal Park

Bridlington Animal Park is an award-winning, family-owned business with a great range of birds which includes Parrots, Falcons and Owls. Also visit Zebra, Marmosets, Civets, Wallabies, Meerkats, Raccoons, Camels, Porcupines and lots more. Timetable includes flying demonstrations, feeding and animal handling.

Beverley

Beverley was recently voted as one of the top places to live by The Sunday Times, Beverly is a great place to visit for everyone. With its towering gothic minster, pretty market squares and beautiful Georgian townhouses, it’s a town steeped in history, yet one with an attractive present. From home-cooked market-fare to cafe culture and Michelin starred restaurants, your palate will be pleased with a visit to East Yorkshire’s larder.

Bridlington Old Town

The Old Town became world famous for the transformation of its shops and many buildings to ‘Walmington On Sea‘ for the 2016 Dad’s Army film. Walmington On Sea Brewery, Jones The Butchers Shop, Marigolds Tea Rooms and Mercers Shoe Shop are amongst features still recognisable where the filming took place. A Dad's Army Trail is worth a look for fans. Otherwise Old Town Trail takes you to some heritage landmarks around the town.

York is a vibrant festival city with Roman roots and a Viking past, surrounded by ancient walls and full of independent shoots and fantastic restaurants. York has a festival for every month of the year and is well worth a visit if you come from further afield and are prepared to travel a bit further. There are 30 museums to explore and York is voted the beset place to live in the UK by the Sunday Times

Driffield

Driffield was founded in Saxon times, the thriving town centre has retained its sleepy rural character and brings together the vivid history, culture and flavour of the surrounding countryside. Explore the 500-year-old tower or the Georgian glamour of Sledmere House, and dip into haunted pubs and award-winning markets. Or, go with the flow and leave it all behind with a walk at the waterside. Don’t forget to also checkout Howden when in East Yorkshire.
